![]() ![]() However, upon installing PCLOS onto the hard drive from the MyLiveUSB, I was never prompted to remove the drive after shutting down. It would be hard to believe that something could have become corrupt right away. I have just installed the system with the latest mirror, this is my first dabblation into linux at home. I am going to go down the list in this thread, however, I did not see a solution to the problem. When black screen occurs, I cycle power and try again until login displays.Ĭhanged the Display Manager to SDDM from GDM And about 10% of the time it will boot to the login. Most of the time (99%) nothing happens (black screen remains) when enter is selected several times. I have found the only way to get the system to boot to login is to hit Enter several times (I have attempted Ctrl+Alt+Backspace+Backspace with no results). When in Legacy + UEFI is enabled, if something does happen, it is this. When Enter is selected (UEFI only in bios), sometimes I will get a black screen with horizontal non-blinking cursor, or just a black screen. The DELL splash screen is displayed, then the PCLOS UEFI splash screen. The symptoms occur when I both enable and disable legacy boot in the BIOS. I have disabled secure boot and quickboot on my computer. I have successfully installed PCLOS with myliveusb and UEFI. I have noticed what a big help everyone on the forums are and I am in need of some assistance. I am new to the forum, I have been lurking for a few weeks while attempting to get PCLOS KDE5 set up on my laptop. I am assuming SDDM uses different drivers? I verified the latest drivers were installed as well. It was not listed when entering xinput -l and the drivers were not being detected when I attempted xinput set-prop # "Device Enabled" 1, nothing changed. The synaptics touchpad was not being detected. This brought me to my next problem I was having, which I was planning to bring up in a new post once this issue was solved. ![]() black screen! I rebooted, and held the Enter key to get it to boot. ![]() I then changed the display manager from SDDM to GDM to see if it would work. I booted with the 4.20 kernel successfully. My computer was set up for the the SDDM Display Manager. I updated to kernel-4.20.4-pclos1 from kernel-4.16.3-pclos1 (installed on the live usb). ![]() It turns out I needed a kernel update after booting into the HD. ![]()
